Things That I Loved From Microsoft at E3 ’09

I’m gonna run down my top 5 favorite things that Microsoft unveiled this year at E3.

5: Halo 3: ODST- Some people think that they need to stop sapping as much as they can from the Halo franchise but I am looking forward to this game. From what I saw it looks pretty epic and it will most likely be a buy on my list.

4: Facebook/Twitter- There were speculations that this would happen and it did. I think this is a big step and it will be really cool to post screen shots right onto Facebook as soon as you take it.

3: The Beatles Rockband- If you don’t know me then you don’t know how much I love The Beatles. I already have this game pre-ordered at Gamestop. The instruments look really good and the most realistic that have been made so far. I am really excited about being able to download the entire Abbey Road album and various other albums in full.

2: Modern Warfare 2- I have been with the franchise since Call of Duty 2: Big Red One came out on Gamecube. It is one of my favorite games to play and I spend hours of time playing online. So much time that I haven’t even finished Cod5. I have a feeling that this will be an epic game. I am glad that they are once again letting us drive vehicles as you could see on E3 with the snowmobile. I have not pre-ordered it yet but I will next time I am able to go to Gamestop. I look forward to playing all of you on XboxLive

1: NATAL- When I saw the trailer for that I could not stop smiling. Mebibyte here at Drinkthisshow probably thinks that it is a rip-off of the Wii but I beg to differ. Microsoft took the idea from the Wii but then they added tons of awesome to it and made it like the best thing ever. I had my doubts to begin with but from what I hear it will work. I still like my controller but I think it would be really fun to be in the game instead of using pre-written moves like the Wii uses. It is a must have for any Xbox 360 owner.

To Mebibyte:

3: They could sell there old controllers or trade them in at Gamestop.

2: Why should they quit making something that players love? They are milking out Halo too, so what is the difference between that and Call of Duty games?

1: Apparently you did not listen to what Peter Molyneux had to say. He totally burned the Wii console.

  1. Allow me to rip this to shreds, if you don’t mind.

5: I’m gonna leave this one alone. I love Halo, and I love Halo. That’s all I can say.

4: Posting screens is AWESOME. Can’t wait to see what people have been doing on Super Smash Bros. Brawl for a long time now put onto Facebook. But really, do we need another way to access a social network? I think allowing you to quickly pop out of a game and send an update to Twitter or Facebook straight from the console is great, or even being able to tell people you are playing! But having the whole social network there seems stupid.

3: I love the Beatles too, and it’s not like we don’t already have enough rock band instruments sitting in the basement, quickly being replaced every time a new game comes out with one more little button, or a new tweak to the peddle that will still find a way to break.

2: A little on the same path as above, but you could same the same for Halo: Do we need another one? Can they really not make a game that will last longer 1 1/2 years? Team Fortress 2 has been going on for 1 month longer, but it has been constantly updated, and pumped full of new content and content by the players themselves. If Valve does something wrong, they quickly listen to their players and fix it.

1: “Microsoft took the idea from the Wii but then they added tons of awesome to it and made it like the best thing ever.” MICROSOFT TOOK THE IDEA FROM THE WII. No matter how much “awesome” you add to anything you take, it will still not be original. “I still like my controller but I think it would be really fun to be in the game instead of using pre-written moves like the Wii uses.” If you do something the developers did not think of, or the technology/hardware is not capable of, this new device will not do it. It has to take what you do and compare it with “pre-written moves” and then do that in the game.

Overall, the Microsoft E3 performance was pretty good. I can’t wait to see what comes next.

  2. 5. The only time I actually play Halo is with a group of people, split screened over Xbox Live. I dunno why, but playing it alone just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. But I really like what I’ve seen of ODST, with the whole, “You’re not a nine-foot super soldier that regenerates health, and can jump 15 feet”, and pulled it down to a more humane level. I might actually enjoy this. You also forgot to mention the teaser for Halo: Reach :D.

    4. I’m not much of a social networking person, but I have the feeling I’m going to get slowly pulled into it with the whole Facebook/Twitter addition to the 360. Not that it’s a bad thing, it’s just something I haven’t found time for.

    3. I have no idea why, but I never got into The Beatles. INB4RAGE, I was never really exposed to them, and don’t see what’s so appealing about them, so I’m just going to steer away from the subject before I end up saying something I shouldn’t.

    2. I skipped WaW, since it was made by Treyarch, and they failed to impress me with CoD3; so when I heard about Modern Warfare 2, I ran around my house naked, and screaming, like I did with E3 today.
    Mebi^^
Why not have another one? Modern Welfare was great, and Infinity Ward showed they could make a great game, so why not continue it with a sequel? I wouldn’t call it ‘milking’ really, or at least not until they start making sequels that just drag on and on, and never stop, but hardly for the first sequel.(I’m considering Modern Warfare as a branch off of the Call of Duty series).
I don’t think anythings wrong with them releasing a whole new game, instead of doing something like Valve does with Team Fortress 2, Infinity Ward is more of a console game company, than a PC gaming company, and I read somewhere why Valve isn’t releasing TF2 DLC on the 360, is because there’s certain guidelines and restrictions you have to go through to release stuff on consoles, so I wouldn’t point the finger at Infinity Ward for just going ahead and making a new game.
L4D2 was confirmed today, when the original game is only 7 months old, you’re argument is invalid.

    1. NATAL… so much controversy D:
I’ve noticed that in the past two years, Microsoft HAS been taking stuff from Sony, and Nintendo, like the Avatars, and now the motion sensing. But I think what Microsoft is doing, is taking what’s already been done, and building on that, and making it better. Yeah, it may not be original, but if it’s fun, it’s fun. I’m starting to think of the 360 as the console that offers everything that the other consoles do, like a boiling pot, while the other consoles target more specific areas.

Or maybe I’m just full of shit.

  3. I guess I’ve just been spoiled by PC gaming, and not having to buy a new game every few months to have a good time and keep with the masses of other players.

Apple does pretty much the same things: takes something, and adds their pretty, and their tax, and puts out a product. If you want something that takes from everything else, why don’t we just have 1 console. Then the entire community can be together, and not have to worry about the fanboys of another console.

Oh, and Your Body, a Wii game, comes with a camera. Ubisoft worked a long time with Nintendo to develop this new fitness game (oh great! another one.) Can’t wait to see if Nintendo will come out with an update to the software that will incorporate it… Yay.

  4. Well we can’t have one console because that would take away the fun. At least we don’t have as many as there were in the 80s.

I saw Your Body too. It looked pretty good but I will say that there have been a ton of Wii games that claim to help you get fit. I think the Wii should just turn into a work out system and quit trying to make good games that end up sucking.

  5. How would having one console take away the fun? It would take away the fights between fanboys, and bring together all the friends and random 10 year olds that like screaming in to a microphone on to one great game.

There has been 1(?) “workout” game for the Wii, and Your Body will be the second. Wii Fit was not just a workout system. It has a lot of games, that help balance the workouts.

    3: Agreed, but stupid.

2: Because, they should let their players enjoy it for a while before making them pay for a few new patches and toy guns. And Halo is not as bad at CoD. Wow.

1: Who the heck is Peter Molyneux? He can stick his console where is mouth is.
