Netbook improvements slow thanks to Microsoft
Netbooks are underpowered. There is no denying that fact. But is it really the manufacturer’s fault? Not exactly. Because of Microsoft‘s Ultra Low Cost PC (ulcpc) licensing program, manufacturers have to stick to Microsoft’s regulations. If they don’t, then they can’t purchase xp at a discount ($26-32), which is the only way to get xp since they no longer sell it. These rules are why you can’t buy a netbook with more that 1gb of ram. Thanks Microsoft.

I totally agree. That is the main thing I hate about Macs. They cost so much and have all this crap I don’t need. If I just want a simple cheap computer Windows is the way I go.

I think that is why we see linux popping up as a viable alternative on the netbooks

That is exactly why Linux is getting with the netbooks. Come on Microsoft. At least let us followers use the OS we choose.
